Recreation Planning

Recreation plans provide a 5-year framework to municipalities for decisions regarding the establishment, development, and maintenance of recreational programs and facilities. These plans include a study and assessment of current facilities, input from the public, and an action plan with goals and objectives including time frames and cost estimates for prioritized projects. In addition to being a significant guide for community recreation, a recreation plan is required by the Michigan Department of Resources for a local unit of government to be eligible for grant assistance.
