Rachael started working for WUPPDR in May, 2018 after she returned to live in the Western U.P. with her husband, son, and dog. Her planning responsibilities include:

  • 2019 Regional Prosperity Initiative
  • 2020 Hazard Mitigation Plan Updates for Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon Counties as well as drafting a new Tribal Hazard Mitiation Plan for the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community

  • General grant writing and project development

Rachael is originally from Alaska and enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, gardening, cooking, beach combing, and portrait photography. She received her Bachelors of Science in Geology from Michigan Technological University in 2014.

Rachael is a board member of the Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative (http://lakesuperiorstewardship.org/), provides support to the Hancock Bike & Pedestrian Committee (http://www.cityofhancock.com/docs/nonmotorplan.pdf), and also a member of the Upper Peninsula Arts & Cultural Alliance (https://www.upacalliance.com/) .
