Geographic information is increasingly used by local governments for planning and policy decisions.  In partnership with Michigan Technological University, WUPPDR is exploring the process of establishing a Regional GIS to house, update, analyze and access spatial or geographic data (e.g. parcels, location of underground infrastructure, roads) for our region.  We are conducting a survey of local governments to inform the development of the Regional GIS, and we request your government’s participation.

This survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete and will cover the following topics:  current local government GIS data access and capacity, desire for other GIS data, and regional GIS design options.  The survey can be completed online using this link:  Paper copies of the survey are available upon request.

If you have any questions regarding this survey, please contact Brad Barnett, Regional Planner with the Western Upper Peninsula Planning & Development Region at 906-482-7205 (ext 316) or by email at
